The Butterfly Project draws on the talents of our local arts community. Each year, a respected Arizona artist will create their personal vision of the Chrysalis Butterfly. This is an incredible opportunity to own a piece of art work which represents a cause that is so critical.
John Nelson is a noted painter, sculptor and video artist. John’s personal vision of the Chrysalis butterfly depicts a beautiful butterfly spreading its wings towards the future leaving behind its cocoon. In the upper right hand corner of John’s abstract painting are three faces, representing the many faces affected by domestic abuse. Cleverly hidden to the left hand side of the painting is a four of diamonds playing card, a subtle reference to Sir Millard’s (knights of the round table) quest to retrieve the four diamonds of courage, wisdom, honesty and strength; attributes that would be necessary to break free of the cycle of domestic violence.
All Proceeds from the print go directly to Chrysalis to support their domestic violence programs.
